| Home to the PURE end of the Murray River, the 'REAL' Man From Snowy River, the largest monolith in the Southern Hemisphere, the town that moved and Lake Dartmouth which has a water capacity seven times greater than Sydney Harbour, Towong Shire is a place of PURE Attraction.
Visit the various educational farming ventures that include alternate medicinal herbs, ostriches, alpaca's, horse whispering, bison and wine growers.
Drop a line and tickle a trout in the Mitta River, Murray River or one of the cold and picturesque streams located across the Shire. Pack the 4WD with camping gear and take a PURE escape from it all.
Hire a bike at Tallangatta and meander your way along the High Country Rail Trail to historic Old Tallangatta or take advandage of one of the many unique bush walks. The Towong Shire has over 63,915ha of State Park and over 110,000ha of National Park.
