News>Council supports young culinary brilliance
| Over two days in December, Corryong students battled for the title of Upper Murray Masterchef, gaining their Level 1 Food Handling Certificate in the process.
As a youth services initiative, year nine students from Corryong College together with a student studying through Distance Education, created delightful dishes under the watchful eye of Wodonga TAFE Chef, Ms Sherren Rahaley.
“Council is pleased to have been able to partner with Wodonga TAFE and Corryong College to deliver a fantastic experience for our young people,” said Cr Debi Gadd, Towong Shire Council Mayor.
While only one student could receive the Upper Murray Masterchef trophy, Miss Sophie Wallace with her pumpkin tart and oven baked chicken, all students were clear winners on the day receiving a Junior Masterchef Cookbook and apron for their efforts.
Upper Murray Masterchef was sponsored by the Victorian Government’s FReeZa fund and Towong Shire Council. | |
