| Achievements, challenges and opportunities for improvement... | | Towong Shire Council will be conducting a series of community visits around the Shire to follow up the input made by individual communities to its 2009 – 2013 Council Plan. “Early in 2009 Councillors and staff visited a number of locations throughout the Shire meeting with residents and ratepayers and gathering information to formulate the four year Council Plan,” said Ms Juliana Phelps, Chief Executive Officer. “Delivering what was set out in the Council Plan has been a key focus since then as well as continuing our commitment to listen to the community and assist with meeting their needs wherever we can,” said Ms Phelps. “Over the last four years we have also tried hard to improve our communication with the community via our newsletters, media releases, public notices and email tree,” “With the end of the present Council’s term is approaching, we think that this is an appropriate time to 'check back in' with our residents and ratepayers and celebrate the successes we have achieved. It is also a good time to acknowledge where we perhaps didn't get things quite right and how we might do better in the future,” she said. The BIG Conversations will take place during the month of August, with Councillors and Council staff visiting five locations across the Shire to talk about what has and hasn't been achieved over the past four years. Ms Phelps hopes that many in the community will join the conversations. “We would love to share the progress Council has made and in turn hear community member’s thoughts and ideas of how we can better serve Towong communities,” she said.
