| Towong Shire’s peninsula residents can get advice about solar power, electricity retailing and home energy efficiency at an information session hosted by Solar North East in Bellbridge on 1 August.
“Council is pleased to be able to support residents to adopt sustainable practices in their homes through programs such as Solar North East and Sustainable Intelligence,” said Towong Shire Council’s Mayor, Cr Debi Gadd. “We have learned through these programs that even small changes to practices in the home can produce positive effects,”
Towong Shire’s Solar Ambassador agrees. “Electricity prices are on everyone’s mind at the moment,” said Ms Susanne Watkins of the Solar North East program. “Going solar is a great way to offset your electricity use, but simple changes to your home and your habits can also have a big impact on your bill,” she said.
The information session in Bellbridge on 1 August will provide an opportunity for residents to talk to staff from Solar North East and ZEN Home Energy about their power bill, solar and other ways to reduce electricity use in the home.
“Understanding your power bill is usually the first step to making changes,” said Ms Watkins. “From there we can come up with some solutions to reduce these costs tailored to the household’s budget and lifestyle,”
The Solar North East information session will be held on Wednesday 1 August at the Berringa Community Centre, Craig Drive, Bellbridge. The drop-in session will be open between 3 pm and 7 pm and residents are urged to bring along their electricity bill.
