News>Corryong Netball Court project gets the go ahead
| Consultative planning yields results | | The recent announcement of funding to establish a new compliant Netball Court at the Corryong Recreation Reserve has been welcomed by Council and all stakeholders involved in the development of the Corryong Recreation Reserve Masterplan.
“The success of the Corryong Netball Court application is proof that engaging with the whole community when planning for the future of community facilities is essential,” said Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Ms Juliana Phelps. “This project was the number one priority agreed to by the community and Council from the recently developed Corryong Recreation Reserve Masterplan,”
Mr Craig Sheather, President of the Corryong Recreation Reserve Committee of Management said that the community and the Recreation Reserve Committee had worked well with Council to plan for the future of the Recreation Reserve.
“Securing the funds for the Netball Court is a fantastic result,” said Mr Sheather. “The effort put forward by the Committee of Management together with Council has been rewarded and we would like to thank the whole community for their support too,”
The funding of $80,000 announced recently by Member for Benamber, Bill Tilley MP, will be added to the $35,000 cash commitment from the community and their in-kind support of almost $5,000 plus Council’s contribution of $24,990 making the total project value $144,650.
Council anticipates that works will commence on the project in early 2013. | |
