Towong Shire Council is pleased to announce that the revitalisation of the Tallangatta Visitor Information Centre is now complete, and it is ready to welcome even more visitors this spring and summer.
Towong Shire Council Mayor Andrew Whitehead said that the significantly upgraded space was already attracting strong interest as we head towards spring.
“The Visitor Information Centre now features new signage, brochure racks, an external screen (featuring the destination website), informative videos, and displays of historical artefacts – all designed to give visitors a deeper connection to the stories of Tallangatta and the Towong region.
“I would like to acknowledge and thank the Sandy the Warhorse Committee and the Tallangatta Heritage Group for their vital contributions to delivering the new community asset. The Sandy the Warhorse Committee played an integral role in providing material for the Sandy storyboards and video content and I would like to thank them for their generous financial contribution to bring the project to life.
“And special thanks to Mary Fraser and Ray Crispin for generously donating items from the Tallangatta Heritage Group’s collection, as well as assisting with historical and archive material that have made the video and storyboard so much more informative.”
The automatic doors at the Information Centre are now fully automated and will open and close daily from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm (or 5.00 pm in winter). To make the Centre as sustainable as possible, all lighting and video is only activated upon entry.
