Temporary Suspension of Management Plans
The ongoing fires have created conditions that pose significant risks to staff, contractors, and the community. Access constraints, hazardous environments, and rapid changes in fire behaviour mean that compliance with scheduled inspection, maintenance, and response timeframes under the Road Management Plan and Tree Management Plan cannot be safely or reasonably met.
Temporary suspension of the Road Management Plan and Tree Management Plan will allow Council to:
- Prioritise emergency response and community safety,
- redirect resources to support fire-related operations,
- reduce exposure to unsafe roadside and network conditions,
- and maintain compliance by acting within the provisions that permit suspension during emergencies
These suspensions will remain in place until fire activity subsides and safe access to the road network is restored.
