Free bushfire related waste disposal extended

The waiver of waste disposal fees for fire-affected residents in Towong Shire has been further extended until 28 October, 2026.

Residents of Towong Shire can continue to dispose of eligible fire-related waste free of charge, at waste disposal facilities by providing proof of residence, such as a driver licence.

What can be disposed ofunder this waiver?

Fire-related waste includes materials deposited on properties during the bushfire event, or materials damaged as a result of the fires that require disposal as part of recovery and clean-up efforts. This may include fallen trees, green waste, damaged household items, spoiled freezer contents due to power outages, and similar debris.

Please note that only eligible bushfire-related waste will be accepted free of charge. All other waste types and standard fees still apply.
