Increased truck movements in Burrowye

Council is sharing the following information for the safety of road users on Burrowye road as we work to repair flood damaged roads and bridges.

Following the flash flooding event in March 2026, which caused extensive damage to roads and the destruction of several bridges in the Burrowye area, Council commenced emergency rectification works to restore access and make affected roads and bridges safe and passable. Concurrently, Council is progressing the design and tendering of long-term replacement solutions for the damaged infrastructure.

The effectiveness and longevity of the emergency repair works are being challenged by ongoing rainfall events and increased heavy vehicle movements associated with forestry operations. Residents and road users are advised to expect increased truck movements along Burrowye Road from Monday 20 July as Southern Cross Forests begins transporting fire-damaged timber from local plantations.

Motorists and residents are encouraged to take extra care on damaged roads, be aware of increased heavy vehicle activity, and allow additional travel time where required.
