Council is proud to announce Pub Tucker Month, a four-week celebration of the hearty pub meals on offer at Towong Shire’s classic country pubs.

This is a great excuse to hop in the car and discover the classic country pubs of Lake Hume, Mitta Valley and Upper Murray.

What's Pub Tucker Month?

Whether it’s the Sunday roast with the family, a hefty Friday night steak after a big week of work, a classic curry for something different or the trusty Saturday arvo beer garden chicken parma there’s really nothing that compares to a good pub feed. The big servings, relaxed atmosphere, local produce, and a sense of history all come together to create that feel-good country pub vibe that you simply can’t get at a winery or a restaurant in town.

And in case you needed any more encouragement to hop in the car and discover these historic hotels, when you buy any main meal at two of the Shire’s pubs during February 2023, you’ll earn $30 off your main meal at a third pub. Delicious!

While you’re in the neighbourhood….

There’s so much to see and experience in Towong Shire before or after your pub meal:

Drive the Great River Road from Bethanga Bridge to Corryong for spectacular views of Lake Hume and the Murray River from the lookouts along the route.
Go for a short walk or longer hike in Burrowa-Pine Mountain National Park, home to one of Australia’s largest monoliths (it’s 1.5x the size of Uluru!), Mt Granya State Park or Mt Lawson State Park.
Try your hand fishing the Murray River for cod, the Mitta River for trout or bring your boat and tackle the trophy fish in Lake Dartmouth.
Camp beside the water at Walwa, Colac Colac, Clarke Lagoon, Mitta Mitta or Nariel Creek.
Take a picnic to the Cudgewa Bluff Falls (after you’ve eaten your pub lunch, of course!).
Walk through history at the Man From Snowy River Museum in Corryong.
Cycle the High Country Rail Trail between Shelley and Tallangatta through native forest and over the 600m long Sandy Creek Bridge.
Get wet on a white water rafting adventure on the Lower Mitta River.
Visit the historic trestle bridges on the High Country Rail Trail, just off the Murray Valley Highway.

How to earn your $30 main meal voucher

Like a coffee loyalty card system, when you enjoy two main meals in different Towong Shire pubs during February you will earn $30 off a main meal at a third pub.

Using the StampMe app via your smartphone, record your first two main meals in the app and you’ll be sent a voucher via the app for your third main meal. Look for the posters and QR codes in the pubs and follow the instructions. It’s super easy.

Terms and Conditions

General

The promotion period is 1 February 2023 to 31 March 2023.
Earning the $30 main meal voucher is possible between 1-28 February 2023.
Redeeming the $30 main meal voucher is possible between 1 February 2023 and March 31 2023.
The promotion is valid for main meals purchased at one of the participating hotels during the promotion period.

Earning the $30 main meal voucher

The promotion uses Stamp Me, which is a “digital coffee card”-style smartphone app. Hotel staff will provide a unique QR code to the customer when a main meal is purchased. When the QR code is used it will trigger the download of the Stamp Me app (if not already downloaded) and register a meal “stamp” for that hotel in the app. When a customer has two meal stamps from two different hotels, the Stamp Me app will notify the customer that they have earned a $30 main meal voucher, entitling them to receive $30 off a main meal at a third hotel.
Only one meal stamp can be earned per hotel.
A meal stamp is earned when a main meal is purchased from the hotel’s Lunch and Dinner Mains menu. The promotion excludes entrees, sides, children’s meals, desserts, drinks, entertainment, or any other product offered for sale by the hotel.
A smartphone and the Stamp Me app are required to participate in the promotion.

Redeeming the $30 main meal voucher

One $30 main meal voucher can be redeemed per person during the promotion period.
The $30 main meal voucher can only be used to purchase main meals listed on the hotel’s Mains menu. It cannot be used on entrees, sides, children’s meals, desserts, drinks, entertainment, or any other product offered for sale by the hotel.
The $30 main meal voucher cannot be redeemed without showing hotel staff the $30 main meal voucher in the Stamp Me app.
The $30 main meal voucher must be used at a hotel that the customer has not yet visited during the promotion period.
The $30 main meal voucher is for a fixed value of $30.
If the main meal eaten has a price of less than $30, the difference between the price of that main meal and the $30 meal voucher is not refunded or payable to the customer.
If the free main meal eaten has a price of more than $30, the customer is required to pay the difference between the price of that main meal and the $30 meal voucher.
