Towong Street Upgrade, Tallangatta

 As part of the broader Destination Tallangatta and Tallangatta Tomorrow projects, the section of Towong Street between Tooma and Akuna Streets Tallangatta has been upgraded.  The works included road widening to match the pavement width at Tooma and Akuna Streets, the addition of new kerb and gutter to both sides, as well as new stormwater drainage works to the existing open channel.

Works at the intersection of Banool Road and Towong Street and the eastern and western intersections of Towong Street at both ends of the Triangles have also been completed, including new curb outstands, landscaping, paving, upgrades to footpaths and new crossing points to the Triangles to improve pedestrian safety.

The next phase of works will focus on the area of Towong Street between the supermarket and laundrette. Works will include laying of black concrete ‚Äúthresholds‚ÄĚ at the entry to each building, renewal of concrete between the front of the buildings and the kerb, new kerb outstands, street furniture, landscaping, paving, new kerb and guttering and removal of overhead powerlines. Work will begin in Autumn and will take approximately six months to complete. Towong Street and associated businesses are expected to remain open throughout the works.
