Towong Shire


Towong Shire is situated in far North-Eastern Victoria and possesses some of Australia's most pristine landscapes. The municipality is bordered by the foothills of the Snowy Mountains to the east and Mt Bogong in the south; is home to Lake Dartmouth and the eastern shoreline of Lake Hume. The headwaters of the Murray River border the Shire in the north. Around 6,000 residents live in the municipality within a total area of 6,600 square kilometres.
