Australia Day Community Awards
Australia Day community awards are presented annually by local councils and communities across Australia to recognise individuals and groups for their outstanding contributions and service to their local communities.
Categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, and Community Event of the Year. Nominations typically open in the latter half of the year for the following January 26 ceremony, and eligible recipients are Australian citizens who have made a notable positive impact.
Towong Shire Council assists community groups in these celebrations to acknowledge the unsung heroes who have made a positive impact in our community. To learn more, visit the Citizen of the Year Awards website.

The nomination process and selection of award winners will be coordinated by local community groups in Corryong, Bellbridge, Mitta Valley, Walwa, and Tallangatta.
These groups will also host the award ceremonies on Monday 26 January 2025. The time and locations of these celebrations will be announced shortly.
