Council is excited to announce that talented artist Alex Sugar has been commissioned to create two stunning murals in Hanson Street.
These artworks will celebrate two meaningful Upper Murray themes, thoughtfully developed by the community members leading the project:
- Arnold Playle – A creative tribute to the man who with his glass negative camera, captured the life and times of the Upper Murray during early settlement.
- Upper Murray Tourism – the beauty of our flora and fauna, the pure end of the Murray, exploration, and recreation such as bushwalking and hang gliding!
The murals will be located on the side wall of 33 Hanson Street (the finance related building next to the pub) and on the side of the Upper Murray Cinema/Pizza business.
When is it happening?
Weather permitting, mural preparations are set to begin in the coming week, with painting to follow shortly after.
We’re absolutely thrilled about the concept designs and hope you are too! If you see Alex at work, don’t forget to give him a friendly shout out.
