As part of Towong Shire Council’s commitment to reconciliation, we are drafting a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and establishing a RAP Working Group to assist in it’s implementation. As part of the implementation we are inviting expressions of interest from indigenous members of the community who are passionate about reconciliation.
The Working Group will be made up of Council staff and a First Nations community representative and will play a key role in guiding and implementing the actions outlined in Towong Shire’s first RAP, a Reflect RAP.
What is a RAP?
Reconciliation Australia outlines four types of RAPs, which help organisations strengthen relationships, respect and opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The Reflect RAP supports organisations just beginning their journey.
Towong Shire believes that a RAP provides a vital framework to help build reconciliation and healing in our region.
