New historical signage installed at The Triangles

Last Wednesday, new interpretive signage was installed in The Triangles, celebrating the remarkable story of Tallangatta’s relocation to ‘Bolga’ in the 1950s. The signs explore the why, when, and where of the move, detailing how 650 residents were relocated from the original township - a significant chapter in our region’s history.

This informative new signage was made possible thanks to the late Bev Stewart, a lifelong resident and dedicated member of the Tallangatta Heritage Group. Bev had a deep passion for her hometown and generously bequeathed funds specifically for the installation of these signs in The Triangles.

Bev’s commitment to preserving local history was shared by fellow Heritage Group members including Mary Fraser OAM, Ray Crispin, and many others over the years who have contributed their time and knowledge. Council would particularly like to acknowledge and thank Ray Crispin for his generous efforts in preparing the historical content featured on the signage.

We are proud to see this tribute come to life and invite the community to visit The Triangles to reflect on the town’s unique journey.
