Operating hours extended at Resource Recovery Centres
To support clean-up following the January 2026 bushfires, additional operating hours have been scheduled at Towong Shire Resource Recovery Centres.
Additional operating hours have been scheduled at Towong Shire Resource Recovery Centres:
Corryong Resource Recovery Centre
- Week commencing 19 January: 9.00 am to 2.00 pm each day
- Sunday 25: normal opening hours
- Week commencing 27 January: Tuesday - Friday: 9.00 am to 2.00 pm (Thursday until 6.00pm)
Tallangatta Resource Recovery Centre
- Tuesday 27th January: 12.30 pm to 3.00 pm
- Thursday and Sundays: normal opening hours
Free fire-related waste disposal
Towong Shire community members can dispose of eligible disaster waste free of charge at local transfer stations or participating landfill sites statewide to support clean-up and recovery.
Waste material affected as a result of the bushfires will be accepted free of charge. All other waste types and fees remain applicable.
What is classified as disaster waste?
Disaster waste includes material deposited on property by the Walwa fire emergency event, or material damaged by the emergency that must be disposed of as part of recovery.
This commonly includes green waste from fallen trees, debris from damaged property, contents of freezers lost due to power outages, and similar items.
