Towong Shire Council gives notice under Section 206 and Schedule 10 of the Local Government Act 1989 and Section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020 that it proposes to deviate and discontinue two sections of Stockyard Creek Track adjoining Crown Allotment 9~A\PP3584 and 25~A\PP3584 in Thologolong, shown ‘cross-hatched’ on the attached Road Exchange and Discontinuance Plan.
The proposal involves the discontinuance of two sections of the Stockyard Creek Track and the exchange of land with the adjoining landowner to formalise the current alignment of Stockyard Creek Track. The land to be transferred to Council is shown as ‘hatched’ on the plan.
The proposal is that Council:
- Proposes to deviate and discontinue two sections of Stockyard Creek Track adjoining Crown Allotment 9~A\PP3584 and Crown Allotment 25~A\PP3584, Thologolong, shown cross hatched on the Road Exchange and Discontinuance Plan.
- Formalise the existing alignment of Stockyard Creek Track in accordance with the Road Exchange and Discontinuance Plan.
- The Chief Executive Officer be authorised to make the proposed road deviation and land exchange available for public inspection and invite public submissions.
A copy of the Road Exchange and Discontinuance Plan is available for inspection at Council’s offices at 32 Towong Street, Tallangatta or 76 Hanson Street, Corryong.
A person may make a submission on the proposal. Any person proposing to make a submission under Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 must do so by 5pm on Monday, 24 August 2026.
All submissions will be considered in accordance with Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989.

Any person requesting to be heard in support of their submission is entitled to be heard before Council (or a committee established by Council for this purpose) or be represented by a person acting on their behalf and will be notified of the time and date of the hearing.
After considering all submissions, Council will decide whether to proceed with the proposal.
