Great River Road & Wymah Ferry
The Great River Road is a scenic touring route in south‑eastern Australia that follows the upper reaches of the Murray River, running from Bellbridge/Lake Hume (just outside Albury‑Wodonga) in the west to the Snowy Mountains community of Khancoban in the east.

Wymah Ferry
The Wymah Ferry provides an important river crossing between Wymah in New South Wales and Granya in Victoria, connecting directly into Towong Shire. The service offers a scenic and historic way to travel across the Murray River and continues to serve residents, freight operators and visitors travelling between the two states.
The ferry is one of only two remaining cable ferries operating across the Murray River between New South Wales and Victoria, the other being the Speewa Ferry near Swan Hill. Also known as the Spirit of Wymah, the heritage-listed cable ferry was built in 1946.
The Wymah Ferry is operated by Transport for NSW but jointly funded by both NSW and Victoria. Transport for NSW manages day-to-day operations, staffing, maintenance, safety requirements and the issuing of service updates and alerts.
Operating hours and capacity
The ferry can carry up to three vehicles per trip, with a total load capacity of 30 tonnes. Caravans and camper trailers are permitted provided the combined vehicle and caravan length does not exceed 17 metres.
The ferry is toll free. Operating hours are generally:
- September to April: 6:00 am to 9:00 pm
- May to August: 7:00 am to 8:00 pm
