NAIDOC Week begins this Sunday 5 July, and communities across our Shire are encouraged to celebrate the cultures, histories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme, ‘Fifty Years of Deadly’, marks an important milestone and honours the Elders, organisers, artists, community leaders and families who have helped shape NAIDOC over the past five decades. Their contributions continue to strengthen culture, connection and identity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Community members are encouraged to join the range of events and activities that will be held throughout the week across the North-East region.
