Corryong Recreation Reserve Lighting Upgrade
About the project
This project will include the installation of four new lighting towers providing a minimum of 100Lux LED sports lighting to the oval at the Corryong Recreation Reserve with associated lighting infrastructure and power connectivity. This project also includes the installation of a new PA system for community football and for the annual events like the Man from Snowy River Bush Festival (MFSRBF) and Corryong Show.
Council has been successful in obtaining over $243,500 through the State Government's Country Football Netball Program for this project, whilst further Council and community contributions through the Corryong Recreation Reserve Committee of Management, Corryong Football Netball Club (CFNC), MFSRBF management and the Corryong Show Society make up the remaining funds towards the facility upgrade.
Why is this project being undertaken?
The Corryong Recreation Reserve is a well-used community asset for community sport as well as events with the annual MFSRBF attracting 50,000 visits annually and a further 2,500 visits for the annual Corryong Show. The current old lighting infrastructure at the oval does not provide the even illumination for football training on the oval, are non-compliant to current standards and means only sections of the oval can be used.
The new lighting will allow the CFNC to operate in a safe environment, provide more flexibility and create opportunities to retain and grow participation at the club, whilst the upgraded lighting will significantly improve the safety and comfort for spectators, participants and those working or volunteering at the annual events where the oval is used for many attractions and displays.
