The Yabba Road Bridge Replacement Project will deliver a new bridge and upgraded road approaches to replace the existing ageing structure on one of Towong Shire's key transport routes.
Funded by the Australian Government through the Roads to Recovery 2024–2029 Program, the project includes the design and construction of infrastructure that meets current Australian Standards, improving safety, reliability, and long-term performance. The upgraded bridge and road alignment will provide a more resilient transport link for residents, businesses, emergency services, and visitors while supporting the future needs of the local road network.
To maintain local access during construction, a temporary single-lane access route will be established using a culvert crossing over Yabba Creek. Traffic will be managed by temporary traffic signals, with additional measures including lighting towers and Variable Message Sign (VMS) boards implemented in accordance with approved Traffic Management Plans throughout the construction period.
This approach will minimise risks to the public and construction workers, enable the safe and efficient demolition and replacement of the existing bridge, and ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and road authority requirements.
