Bullioh-Wyeeboo Female Friendly Facility
About the project
This project will include the construction of a new pavilion inclusive of accessible player changerooms, umpires change rooms, accessible amenity, a small admin/multi-purpose space and storage all designed to align with Netball Victoria guidelines which incorporates female friendly design principles.
Why is this project being undertaken?
There are currently limited facilities for netballers at the Bullioh / Wyeeboo Recreation Reserve and these are located some distance away from the two netball courts, this leads to issues such as there being an inadequate amount of time during breaks in matches for players, umpires and officials to use the amenities, meaning delays in start times and overall scheduling disruption.
There is currently no storage at the netball courts for equipment, and there is little shelter for 100 plus supporters who attend matches at the recreation reserve. The pavilion will be constructed adjacent to the netball courts and close to the football oval with a verandah along the eastern and western sides of the building creating undercover spectator areas for both the netball courts and football oval, benefitting all user groups.
The project supports Council Plan objectives 2.2, and 2.4 by enhancing our community’s access to safe, modern recreation facilities and strengthening the vibrancy of our smaller townships.
Funding and partners
This project was developed through strong partnerships between Council, the Bullioh / Wyeeboo Recreation Reserve Committee of Management, the Bullioh Football Netball Club, Sport and Recreation Victoria and Netball Victoria. The final project design and delivery will meet the needs of the community and value add to the Recreation Reserve and all participants who use the facility.
This project has been made possible through a significant financial contributions from Council, the State Government funding through the 2022/23 Country Football and Netball Program and the Bullioh Football Netball Club.
