Cudgewa Lighting Upgrade
About the project
The Sports Oval Lighting project is set to transform the Cudgewa Football Oval with brand-new, energy-saving LED lighting. These modern lights will achieve a minimum 50 Lux standard lighting meeting modern training standards, so the oval will be brighter, safer, and ready for action well into the evening.
Council has received $250,000 State Government funding through the 2023/24 Country Football and Netball Program. The Cudgewa Football Netball Club and Council have also contributed to the funding to make this project a reality.
Why is this project being undertaken?
Upgrading the lighting at the Reserve was the highest priority project identified in the Cudgewa Recreation Reserve Master Plan, developed in 2022.
This project aligns with the initiatives and objectives in our 2021–2025 Council Plan, objectives 2.2, 3.1 and 3.2 aiming to enhancing our community’s access to safe, modern recreation facilities and strengthening the vibrancy of our smaller townships.
The upgrade will:
- Meet training requirements, ensuring the oval can be used safely and effectively by all teams.
- Reduces running costs with modern LED lighting that is more energy-efficient and lowers long-term expenses.
- Increases usable training space through brighter, consistent lighting that allows the entire oval to be utilised.
- Supports higher participation by enabling more players to train at the same time and encouraging greater community involvement.
