Towong Shire Council gives notice under Section 206 and Schedule 10(3) of the Local Government Act 1989 that it intends to discontinue road R1\PS733729 and Land Exchange of equal area from the neighbouring property in Tallangatta Estate, Tallangatta.
The road discontinuance and land exchange of the road reserve to the adjoining land owner, will remove the inconsistencies for the future roads for the Tallangatta Estate road network.
Council in return will receive one section of land marked ‘hatched’ (being 2274 m2 in total) from the adjoining landowner, to offset the value of road be disposed.
The proposal is that Council:
1. In accordance with Section 206, Schedule 10, Clause 3 and Sections 207A(a) and 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 and Section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020, hereby commences the statutory process to give public notice of the intention of Council to discontinue road R1\PS733729 and a land exchange with the adjacent landowner at Tallangatta Estate, Tallangatta by private treaty the 2274 m2 section of road R1\PS733729 shown on the attached road discontinuance and land exchange plan.
2. The Chief Executive Officer be authorised to make the proposed road discontinuance and land exchange of road R1\PS733729 available for public inspection and invite public submissions.
Submissions
Any person proposing to make a submission under Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 must do so by 5pm on Friday, 7 November 2025. All submissions will be considered in accordance with Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989.
Submissions should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer and can be delivered to one of Council’s Offices at 32 Towong Street, Tallangatta or 76 Hanson Street, Corryong.

Any person requesting to be heard in support of his or her submission is entitled to be heard before Council (or a committee established by Council for this purpose) or be represented by a person acting on his or her behalf and will be notified of the time and date of the hearing.
After considering all submissions, Council will decide whether to proceed with the proposal.
