Impact to waste collection services

Waste collection services across the Shire may be impacted in the coming days due to the ongoing bushfire situation.

Cleanaway has currently suspended waste collection services in the coming days and areas affected by road closures or VicEmergency alerts may be delayed. Council outdoor crews are supporting the Incident Control Centre (ICC) and attending council facilities where possible to clear bins and supply additional bin stock if required.

What you should do with your bins:

• Do not burn waste or place hot ash in bins, as this poses a serious fire risk.
• Secure bin lids to prevent embers, ash or wildlife accessing waste.
• Avoid overfilling bins. If possible, double-bag waste and store it securely until collections resume.
• Minimise waste generation during the disruption, particularly food waste.
• Follow VicEmergency advice and prioritise personal safety at all times.
• We will update information as soon as possible.
