Draft Township Structure Plans
We have engaged Tomkinson, an expert town planning agency, to create new Structure Plans for Bellbridge, Corryong, and Tallangatta.
These plans will guide development until 2040 based on community input and other state government considerations. They aim to preserve the town's character, support sustainable growth and boost the economy.
What are Structure Plans and their benefits?
Structure Plans guide future development, including housing, roads, and commercial areas. They will help to assess future proposals and ensure sustainable growth.
Key goals of township Structure Plans:
- Align with local needs both current and future;
- Define township boundaries for growth management;
- Provide diverse housing options;
- Take into account the latest information relating to environmental risks;
- Separate land uses appropriately (ensuring industrial and residential zones are separated); and
- Identify future land use reviews that may be required.
In March 2024 we hosted community drop-in sessions at Bellbridge, Corryong, and Tallangatta. Following the community conversations, Tomkinson and Council’s Planning Team considered all feedback, discussed with Council and reported back to the community and individual submitters, with a view that the Draft Structure Plans be formally presented to Council for adoption mid-2024.
Council adopted the drafts at the 26 June 2024 Ordinary Council meeting. Once the Minister approves the drafts for inclusion in the Planning Scheme they will come back to Council for adoption.
